Meet Joanna (Jo)
A life of movement rooted in faith. A practice built on the belief that caring for the body is an act of worship.
Faith, Movement, and Wholeness
Jo believes that the body, mind, and spirit were never meant to be compartmentalized. Her life's work is the joyful integration of these three, bringing them into alignment under the lordship of Jesus Christ.
Her practice draws from Christian contemplative prayer, the flowing discipline of yoga, the meditative art of Tai Chi, and the tangible strength of personal fitness. Each of these traditions, when held within a Biblical worldview, becomes an act of stewardship and worship.
Jo is available for online sessions and personal guidance. She meets each person exactly where they are, whether that is a first-time student stepping onto a mat or a seasoned practitioner deepening their prayer life through movement.
Whether you are 19 or 90, this practice was made for you. Jo has seen it transform lives at every age, and she is living proof of what it produces.
She Is 67.
Most People Guess 40.
Her younger students
They come in with the energy and confidence of youth, and they leave quietly humbled. Jo's pace, her endurance, and her strength consistently surprise people who expected an easier ride. The gap between their assumption and the reality of the practice is one of her quiet joys.
Her older students
They ask her age eventually. They always do. And they always do a double-take. People guess she is somewhere in her early 40s. A few have guessed late 30s. When she tells them the truth, the response is almost always the same: "That is what I want."
Jo does not teach from theory. She teaches from 67 years of lived, embodied practice. Every session she leads, she has already done herself. The results you see in her are not the exception. They are what this practice, held faithfully within a life of faith, produces over time.
This is not about looking younger. It is about aging with vitality, strength, and gratitude. It is about offering your whole self back to God, year after year, and discovering that He is faithful to sustain what is surrendered to Him.
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."Isaiah 40:31
A Christian Worldview of Wellness
Rooted in Scripture
Every practice, every session, every breath is anchored in the truth that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Movement becomes prayer when we remember whose we are.
Adapted Traditions
Yoga and Tai Chi are ancient movement disciplines. Jo holds them through a Biblical lens, preserving the physical wisdom while centering the practice on Christ rather than Eastern spirituality.
Whole-Person Wellness
True wellness encompasses body, soul, and spirit. Jo's approach refuses to isolate physical health from emotional wellbeing and spiritual vitality. They flourish together, or not at all.
Why Faith and Fitness Together?
The question Jo is asked most often is a simple one: "Isn't yoga a spiritual practice?" The answer is yes, and that is exactly why she chooses to practice it within the context of her Christian faith. Movement without spiritual intention is merely exercise. Movement held within a posture of worship becomes communion.
Christian meditation, often called contemplative prayer, has a deep and beautiful history within the Church. It is the practice of quieting the noise long enough to hear the voice of God. When Jo guides a meditation session, she is not asking you to empty your mind. She is inviting you to fill it with the truth and presence of Christ.
Tai Chi and personal fitness complete the picture. One cultivates inner stillness and intentional breath. The other builds the physical capacity to live fully, serve joyfully, and age gracefully. Together with yoga and prayer, they form an integrated practice that honors the whole person God created you to be.
"I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters...to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship."Romans 12:1
